My occupation?

The other day I got a call from a nonprofit agency and was asked what my occupation was. I said that I am a homemaker. The girl on the other end of the phone asked "is that where you go and decorate a house or something"? Needless to say that took a few seconds for me to recover from.

Perhaps I should have said that I was unemployed? But that would be lying.
